We are into week 5 (already) of the DWTS All Star competition. This week the celebrities get a “by” in that they don’t have an elimination. The celebrities dance their “Guilty Pleasure” and a free-style “Team Spirit” routine. The performances are spread over Monday & Tuesday nights…thanks to the 3rd Presidential Debate.

For week 5, the celebrities not only have to learn their individual performances but also a group performance made up of teams they created at the end of last week’s show…you know, the one where Bristol & Mark were not picked for any team only to be eliminated moments later.
Tough week…
Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough
Danced the Team Dance to “Call Me Maybe”…Individual performance on Tuesday.
This free-style team dance was a brilliantly choreographed routine filled with creative partner transitions and top-notch performances. Everyone looked strong and confident…even Melissa Rycroft who, on Sunday, was taken to the hospital for a herniated disk. This fun routine earned it’s celebrities a 29.5. Tough competition for Team Gilles.
Sabrina Bryan & Louis Van Amstel

Gilles Marini & Peta Murgatroyd
Gilles & Peta perform their routine to Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you”. The song is so powerful, you just can’t envision a dance routine to match the music’s presence…and this one doesn’t…it exceeds it. By far, tonight’s performance was the most exciting. This dance was so intoxicating, I couldn’t believe it was over…the time went by too quickly. I could watch it over and over again. Carrie Ann was so moved by it, she fell off her chair! She screamed to Gilles something about letting the baby making begin and fell off the chair! Tom Bergeron has the greatest line saying he didn’t realize the battle cry would be followed by her getting into position! Hysterical…
Going into Tuesday night, Gilles has the lead with 29.5.

Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke
Emmitt’s guilty pleasure is to perform his Samba to “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow. I just love watching this fun lovin’ couple. They are having such a great time on the dance floor and it comes through their performance. It was “all on” for Emmitt…great Samba filled with energy. He earns a 29 going into the Team Dance.
Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy
Kelly didn’t have the luxury of not having to work on General Hospital this week. She had to work there and then practice for two performances. Her Samba reflects it. Though it was a fine performance, it wasn’t full of the passion and energy and focus we saw in last week’s performance. Kelly finds herself at the bottom going into the Team Dance.
Kirstie Alley & Maks Chmerkovskiy
Kirstie was having an emotional week. You hardly ever see Kirstie cry a sobering cry. Here is a woman working so very hard to compete with women 1/2 her age (some could be her kids). Kirstie delivers a beautiful Quick Step to “Mrs. Robinson” which earns her a 25.5.

Pamela Anderson & Tristan MacManus
Left the Dance Floor on 9/25/12
Joey Fatone & Kym Johnson
Left the Dance Floor on 10/2/12
Drew Lachey & Anna Trebunskaya
Left the dance floor 10/9/12
Helio Castroneves & Chelsie Hightower
Left the dance floor 10/9/12
Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas
Left the dance floor 10/16/12
I’m so glad that there are no eliminations this week. I’m just not ready to let one of the celebrities go home yet. They are all so talented and I enjoy the camaraderie.
Can you pick one to send home? Really?
Tuesday night is part II of the “Guilty Pleasures” and “Team Spirit”. Two nights of celebrity dancing…yes!
We will watch Team Gilles try to beat Team Shawn’s score of 29.5. Can they do it? They are only as strong as their weakest pair of dance shoes…who will that be?
And as an added bonus, we have no Presidental debate as a follow up. What will I do?
Enjoy!
